Friedensburg Schlaining

In the middle of the smallest town in Burgenland, “Stadtschlaining”, the imposing knight’s castle protrudes between the trees. The proud and mighty walls bear witness to the impressive history of the region.

Today, the historic castle is a place where the history, culture and identity of Burgenland can be experienced in the “House of Contemporary Burgenland History” through an exciting and extensive educational and event program for adults and children.

It has also been the seat of the Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution since 1982 and is therefore also internationally regarded as a symbol of peace – it is therefore also known under the name Friedensburg.
