Successful congress at Melk Abbey sets standards for the future of Austrian tourism.
Austrian Leading Sights concludes 4th congress at Melk Abbey with great success. From October 1 to 3, 2023, high-ranking representatives of Austrian tourism gathered to discuss the holistic view of tourism, culture, nature, economy and society under the central theme “Leaving traces”.
State Secretary for Tourism Susanne Kraus-Winkler opened the congress with an inspiring input on the importance of high-quality tourism for national development and Austria’s international reputation as a first-class travel destination. “The Austrian Leading Sights are the largest and most important network of museums and excursion destinations in Austria. Regular exchange and learning from each other is the basis for a successful and sustainable future development for this important part of the Austrian tourism offer. In doing so, tradition is perfectly transformed into modernity.
The tourism ecosystem only works if all partners live their responsibility perfectly. I congratulate the Austrian Leading Sights on their congress and the annual theme ‘Leaving traces’ for a better future,” said Kraus-Winkler.
In the course of the event, various development opportunities for the domestic tourism industry were highlighted by Leading Sights, Österreich Werbung, the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO). The focus was on a forward-looking look at the internationality of tourism, people’s changing travel behavior, sustainability and the digital footprints we are leaving in the tourism industry.
With exciting discussions, innovative ideas and the opportunity to work together to shape the sustainable future of tourism, the congress not only acted as a platform for expert exchange, but also created the opportunity for networking and forging valuable relationships in the tourism industry.
