The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is one of the most fascinating panoramic roads in the world and has been a protected monument since 2015. The road leads you 48 kilometres to the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park up to 2,571 meters above sea level, to the foot of the highest mountain in Austria and ends at the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps, the Pasterze. On the 2,369-meter high Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Hoehe, there is a unique view of the flanks and snow fields of the Grossglockner (3,798 m) and the surrounding three-thousand meter peaks. On small hikes, marmots and even ibex, chamois or eagles can be observed. Numerous themed educational trails and exciting exhibitions invite you to enjoy an unforgettable nature experience.
