On September 12, 2024, the Austrian Leading Sights Workshop focused on digitalization, online sales, and artificial intelligence took place.

On September 12, 2024, 45 representatives of Austria’s leading attractions gathered for the Austrian Leading Sights Workshop to discuss the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in the tourism industry.

The workshop started with an opening speech by Patrick Quatember, Managing Director of Austrian Leading Sights. This was followed by an exciting presentation from Bastian Rörig, Digital Marketing Manager of Salzburg AG, who gave insights into the Schafbergbahn, the host attraction of the workshop.

A particular highlight was the keynote from Gregor Schmalzried, author and tech journalist, who discussed the latest trends and opportunities in artificial intelligence and provided valuable perspectives on the future of the tourism industry. We would also like to thank Michael Umschaden-Neubauer, Head of Digital Media and Information & Data Management at Kärnten Werbung, for presenting specific use cases of artificial intelligence and the benefits of integrating it into daily operations.

As a prelude to the workshop, a joint dinner was held on the Schafberg the evening before. Despite the unsettled weather, participants were rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape during the ascent on the Schafberg Railway.
